The United States is many things. It is a country. It is a concept. It is an ideal. It is home. For many who have made this country home over the course of its history, America is also a place of resistance. From its beginnings, the United States has not always stood by its principles of equality and fairness. People of all kinds of identities had to fight for their right to exist in a country that was at times hostile towards them and their communities. Despite the need to continuously assert their rights, those resisting hate and fascism continue to believe in the ideals of America, the idea of America as home.

 

This Land is Your Land: An American Anthology of Resistance and Resilience will tell the stories of those who build community, who assert their right to exist, and who find home in America. This Anthology will feature creative nonfiction, poetry, and graphic narratives that celebrate history, community, and continuous resistance. Rather than celebrating a country, this collection will magnify the voices of people who make this country a place worth fighting for.

 

We especially encourage authors who are LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, immigrants, or apart of any other marginalized group to submit.

Accepted authors will retain all rights to their work and will receive a copy of the anthology upon publication.

 

Submission Guide

 

Authors can submit up to five pieces for consideration. Please submit all submissions in the same document.

 

All submissions should be formatted in a readable font, 12 pt. font, and double spaced in a word document. The submission format is as follows:

• Cover letter

• Author name/pen name

• Work titles

• Genres

• Word counts per work

• Typed assertion that the work is original and was not created with AI assistance

 

There is a one time $5 reading fee for all submitting authors. As a new independent press, this fee will assure that we can bring the anthology to fruition while assuring quality editing and production.
